Why We Need This Project:
A Letter from Founder Karen Trueheart
Dear Fellow Members of Our Human Family
As distressing headline after headline has come to my attention, I have found myself repeatedly heartbroken. What are we doing to ourselves and the planet? How can we possibly survive? As a wife, mother and member of our global human family I have been worried about our future. Out of that concern has grown a desire to participate in the efforts to solve this problem that are emerging all over the world.
We are really fortunate to live in a time when knowledge from all over the world is available to us. For the past 25 years I have been studying human nature as it is understood by science and the spiritual traditions of the world. And I have been using what I’ve learned in my own life—changing how I relate to myself, my family, friends, students and clients by changing my heartprints. And you know what? It works.
Changing my heartprints changes the emotional climate in me and that helps other people feel more warmhearted and open minded, as well. So there really is reason for hope. We can learn to feel our emotions and use them to think about how best to act. We can use kindness, understanding and empathy to inform our words and deeds. We can take personal responsibility for the emotional climate we create. And, like changing a light bulb and planting a tree helps change our carbon footprint, being kind to ourselves and smiling at others helps change our heartprints.
We have everything we need...the knowledge, the mental, emotional and spiritual potential...everything. What is lacking is individual understanding, skills and broad public awareness. Together we can do this and just maybe, Heartprints for Humanity can help. I sincerely hope so.
Warmly,
Karen Trueheart
